An integral ontology: project overview

The technical core of this project is an original scientific and philosophical theory on the structure of human thinking. This model has been in gestation for many years, and in the context of this Weaving Unity project is the foundation of our capacity to interconnect and bridge all areas of human thinking and culture.

This model relates to all the categories ("groups") that describe the project. It is fully "interdisciplinary" in that it includes all levels of human thinking -- ranging from the "hard" sciences to the humanities. It includes mathematics, and it includes, religion, spirituality and theology.

As a general category it is defined in terms of "semantic ontology" (what do words mean, how are categories formed, how is reality described in abstract symbols, how do we know that model of reality is correct), it includes many traditional subject areas all at the same time

Simple overview

  • The project is grounded in a universal definition of oneness or "The One", interpreted in mathematical and semantic terms
  • The detailed elements of this framework are constructed in terms of dimensionality
  • This creates a cascade of definitions that extends across the entire range of human thinking, with implications for many areas of human thinking

This cascade is a hierarchy across levels of abstraction, that takes on a multitude of alternative forms depending on purpose

General design of this statement

  • What does the project include
  • What is is based on
  • What is it trying to do
  • Why is it significant
  • How is it a "breakthrough" or a significant step forward in science and spirituality and governance

This projet and vision has implications for many specific areas of humn activity

  • it introduces or suggests new methods for these subject areas
  • it shows how these "traditionally independent" subject areas can be undersdoot as facets of single larger containing framework, that might be descibed by phrases like "the unity of the sciences"
  • it has implications for science, religion, spirituality, and democracy

The most important application for this project is -- facilitating human cooperation and guidance on a path of wisdom

*

Included and interconnected subject areas

  • Epistemology
  • Semantics
    • What is meaning,
    • how do symbols embody and convey meaning,
    • How do symbols and define meaning explicitly
  • Foundations of arithmetic and algebra
  • Cognitive science -- how are categories formed
  • Taxonomy, various kinds of hierarchical models
  • Cosmology (maybe implications for cosmology)
  • Religion, spirituality and ontology as an interconnected subject
  • Moral and ethical philosophy and guidance
